Christmas 2007

Merry (insert preferred holiday here)!!!

I hope that everyone's festive season has been good to them.

It was good here, I've come home from school to hang out at home for a bit. I got home on Thursday night last week, and proceeded to be immersed up to my eyeballs in family members and decorating. It was my job to decorate the tree on Saturday, which I did...and I daresay, it looks nice.

Christmas Eve, my family and I went for Chinese - a tradition - and then to mass. It was a nice service, nothing spectacular or anything. Christmas morning dawned clear, snowy and bitter cold. In my family we don't give piles and piles of stuff to each other, we're kind of a one-gift family. Santa still comes, but he mostly just fills our stockings now. We, my brother, sister and I, are pretty accustomed to getting more out of being with our families then the things we get at Christmas.

We spent yesterday with my mum's family, in their B and B just south of Shelburne, it's a gorgeous old house, and dinner was fantastic. We had lot's of fun, and got to see some relatives we don't see unless it is Christmas or someone died. Saturday afternoon, we're all heading to dad's mum's place, afternoon tea and presents there, it should be fun again.

I'm headed back to school on the 30th or 31st of December, with my boyfriend, and we're going to spend New Year's together, it should be fun.

Right now, I'm actually waiting for said boyfriend to give me a call, and let me know what we're going to be up to tonight. I'm thinking a movie, since it's bitter cold. I can't wait to see him, it's been more then a week since I've last seen him, and I'm hoping that we'll get a chance to see each other a couple times before we have to go back to Waterloo and he goes back to work on the 2nd. I miss him, a lot.

Anyway, it's almost dinner time, and there's no turkey to be had...but that's okay, I got my fill yesterday.

It's exam season again, and I am once again, stretched for time. I have two exams tomorrow morning, neither of which I am ready for, but will do my best on. I have gotten one mark back, from the exam I wrote last Saturday morning, and if it's any indication of the rest of the them, I should be okay, maybe not fantastic, but at least my GPA will go up, a little. And that might be the difference between staying in my program and switching out to somehting easier.

It's snowing now, coming down in big, soft, fluffly flakes...the kind of snow that I like more than any other. It makes me think of being at home, curled up with a good book in front of the big picture window in the living room, watching the snow fall softly on the cedars. I can't really see anything out of my window here, it's small and high-ish up 'cause we are in the basement of a house. *sighs*

Anyway, I should probably try and study.

Phobias anyone?

procrastination strikes again, this time in the form of me finding a list of phobias, including the most ironic of them all.

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedalophobia

That happens to be the fear of long words...

*shakes head* There has got to be some mean-ass psychotherapist somewhere with a penchant for irony who laughs a little more each time someone is diagnosed with that, those poor people, they probably couldn't even manage to tell someone what it is they have, due to their irrational fear of long words. Personally, I could never imagine having a phobia of words, since I write all the time. I do think, however, that I definitely have a little bit of claustrophobia, some pyrophobia that goes with that, since I'm deathly afraid of being locked in a small space while the rest of the building goes up in flames and I can't get out. I used to have horrid nightmares about it too, not so much now, but when I was little I used to have them all the time.

Phobias are completely treatable though, as my psych prof is so proud of saying. All you have to do is face them...

Happy Friday the thirteenth this week though, I have an exam...*cringes* Hopefully it'll go well. *crosses fingers*...*knock on wood*

I suppose now I'll have to find a list of superstitions for Friday's entry...that'll be fun.

Intro post!

I thought I would start this with a good old-fashioned whine...*laughs*

I have three, count 'em, three exams this week!!!! It's Tuesday, the first one is tomorrow night, I'm going to die between now and Friday if I don't some how figure out how to time manage between now and then...*sighs*

Also, there is no hot water in my apartment today...and so I bothered one of the girls upstairs (a friend, I assure you) to borrow her shower. I doubt that even if we put in a work order with my don that anything would get done, there just isn't enough time left in the school year to even worry about it...ah well, I suppose I can borrow her shower until like, next Friday when she goes back to Owen Sound and I have to stay for another week-ish to finish up my exams...ah well, guess I'll just have to suffer through cold showers! Yay for me...*laughs*

Other than that, there really isn't much to say, I should be studying, but I'm not, I could be cleaning my room, but I'm not, I would be outside in the sunshine, but I'm not. I'm being lazy today apparently, and procrastinating with the best of them.

Anywhoodle, I'm off to try and study...or talk to someone on Skype who is having a lonely day and needs some companionship. *hugs to all the lonely people out there*
